As artists
generally do, I express myself
in the way that gives me the most satisfaction.
As a recent transplant to the Santa Fe area, I find new inspiration
in the incredible landscapes, cultures and architecture.
The subjects
I prefer are the complex patterns found in nature: tangled vines, leaves,
shells, etc.. Each separate
component of foliage, animals and sea life fascinates me.
My delight comes from mingling the individual elements into interdependent
designs.
I
was born in Mason City, IA. I've worked in a variety of fields while
raising two children before dedicating my time to art. These
fields included nursing, counseling and marketing.
I've always had art projects in process: pen and ink, acrylics
and tissue paper collage. I've
attended classes in watercolor, pottery, weaving and bargello needlework
classes.
I
began serious full-time study of design, painting and printmaking in
1986 and continued my studies in Helena, MT and Southport, NC. I recently
moved to Algona, IA after living in the Santa Fe, NM area.
Since
1990, I've been committed to the art of painting with a focus on watercolor
technique. I've participated in over 35 Juried shows and exhibitions
and have earned numerous awards including the Bronze Medal from "An
Evening With Montana Artists", the Grumbacher Gold Medal Award
and the Liquitex Merit Award. In 2003, I began to explore my oil and
acrylic painting techniques and have enjoyed success in both mediums.
Marianne went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society - Algona. She was 69.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Michelle and husband Cody Misplay of Cochiti Lake, New Mexico; a son, Burke Daidy and his wife Sara and her two beloved granddaughters, Fiona and Claire Daidy all of Arlington, Virginia. Also surviving is her brother, Larry Ewen and wife Dee of Mason City; her sister, Jeanne and husband Bill Brown of Algona, as well as countless friends and the many animal friends that she cared for in her lifetime.
